I guess it's about time I updated with something related to knitting. :) I have been knitting, even though I've taken a pause from the blog. Not everything has been completed yet, but I thought I'd show you the two latest finished projects. One of them was a gift two one of my sisters, who recently had a birthday. She wished for a scarf for indoor use, undyed, with some holes in it, in a soft an lovely yarn. The result was this, Grounded in Skinny Bugga in the Nude.
The next thing I want to show you, are my neon stripey socks. They're knitted in String Theory Continuum, 80% Merino, 10% Cashmere, 10% Nylon. This hank was bought from Simply Socks, but the shipping got a bit more expensive than buying directly from Caitlins Etsy shop. The socks are knitted toe up, using Wendy Johnsons toe-up sock with gusset heel pattern.

When it's -14 degrees Celsius outside, and the winter jacket is too cold, and the zipper is not quite working, one deserves a new winter jacket. So, yesterday I bought this down parka from Stormberg.
I tested it on my very long way to work and back today (max 10 minutes each way), and I didn't get cold at all! At least not in the areas the jacket covers. The feet, face and fingers are a different matter, but help for the feet is on it's way, I've ordered new winter shoes, and waiting for them to arrive in the mail.

I'm sorry that I've not been updating my blog the last six months or so, there are several reasons for that, I guess I just needed a pause. I just dropped by with a shopping tip for my Norwegian readers, I will be back soon with another tip for all my readers, I promise.

First of all, I’m sorry that I haven’t blogged in a while. There are several reasons for that, actually. Life has been a bit challenging lately, to be honest. We’ve been moving at work, from a several offices area to a open landscape, and that combined with our department (approx 20 people) being more or less without a leader for a couple of months, getting new tasks that we’re not quite sure about, and having more than enough to do from before, well, let’s just say we struggle a but at work these days. So, when I could take my Easter vacation after worked half a day on Wednesday, I was very pleased.
Also, things are happening with my family in the north, things I have no control over, and can do nothing about, just watch happening. The worst part is that someone is being hurt, and there’s absolutely nothing I can do about it! If I could, I’d be more than happy to trade places, but I can’t.
So, on to some more interesting news, perhaps. I’ve finished two pairs of Mitered mittens since I blogged last time. This pair for my mother, knitted in Noro Silk Garden colour 267.
And also this pair, for my oldest sister, knitted in Noro Silk Garden colour 292. I know, they look like they’re knitted with twocompletely different colours, but the labels said it’s the same.
Both pairs were birthday gifts, and I was a bit nervous about the pink/purple pair, I had to add a note to them, saying that I’d knit her a new pair if she wanted two mittens that matched more. I wouldn’t blame her if she did. But, luckily she loved them, and I got a MMS from her the other day with a picture of her wearing them, saying she uses them, so I guess we got a happy ending there. :)
Amongst other news, we’ve bought ourselves a new camera, a Canon EOS 550D (picture ganked from Canon). We’ve only had it for a few days, so we haven’t tested it properly yet, but I do look forward to trying it out. I am considering buying a portable photo studio as well, something like this, but we’ll see.

This will be a real sock post, so if you're not a sock lover, you should probably stop reading now. ;)
On my birthday, 2 February, one of my cousins had her first baby. They knew it was going to be a boy, and one of the names that was mentioned as possible this autumn, was Emil. I just "had to" make sure that a pair of socks in Wollmeise colour "Emil" were knitted, and the threads were just fastened around the same time as he was born. He was named Isak, by the way.
This week I got four pairs of socks in the mail, from USA. I've been shopping on Ebay, I found these socks, and just had to buy them, as I think they describe me perfectly!
To the left we have Sushi Girl, then cat's or dog's paws, Headache Girl and at the right Knitting Girl.

The first finished knitting project this year was a pair of sock for Tommy, and if they weren't so boring to knit, they would have been done earlier. Knitted in Opal Elemente colour no 1075. He wanted a ribbed cuff, and the rest stockinette. The next time I'm knitting socke for him, I think I'll choose the pattern and the yarn, perhaps it'll be more fun to knit. It's been quite cold here in Trondheim the last month, and when he claimed that the only socks good enough when it's more than -10 degrees Celsius outside, is handknitted socks, I guess he deserves at few pairs more. ;)
